ABSTRACT:
A combustor assembly having a preestablished rate of thermal expansion is mounted within a gas turbine engine having a preestablished rate of thermal expansion being greater than the preestablished rate of thermal expansion of the combustor assembly. The combustor assembly is constructed of a inlet end portion, a outlet end portion and a plurality of combustor ring segments positioned between the end portions. A retaining ring is positioned radially adjacent the combustor ring segments to allow for thermal radial expansion of the combustor ring segments while maintaining radially compressive force on the combustor ring segments and distributing force evenly along the combustor ring.
