ABSTRACT:
A method of statistically characterizing combustion knock events includes receiving signals from a sensing device such as an accelerometer, estimating at least one parameter of a probability distribution function based on the received signals, and calculating a value indicative of an nthpercentile based on the parameter to predict upcoming combustion knock events.
