ABSTRACT:
A combustion apparatus2has an anti-spreading member65disposed below a combustion chamber10. This anti-spreading member65is composed of a generally cylindrical main body65a, an outer flange65band an inner flange65c, these flanges being formed at and integral with the opposite ends of the main body65a, respectively. A controller40for regulating the operation of this apparatus2is designed to preheat the anti-spreading member65at a heat generation rate ‘q’ lower than the required heat generation rate ‘Q’, before the apparatus starts its normal operation to burn a fuel.
