ABSTRACT:
A stage associated with a factor N.sub.k of a 1/N (N=N.sub.1 . . . N.sub.k . . . N.sub.L) thinning filter is constituted of a digital integrator which is cleared at every period of N.sub.k+1 samples, and a transposed comb filter which operates at 1/N.sub.1 . . . N.sub.k of an input sampling frequency and has N/N.sub.1 . . . N.sub.k taps. Similarly, a stage associated with a factor N.sub.k of an N-fold interpolation filter is constituted of a transposed comb filter which operates at 1/N.sub.1 . . . N.sub.k of an output sampling frequency and has N/N.sub.1 . . . N.sub.k taps, and a hold circuit for holding output data of the transposed comb filter for a period of N.sub.k+1 samples.
