A pigment of empirical compositionin-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="lead"?(TiO2)a(ZnO)b(SnO)c(SnO2)d(RExOy)e(AEO)f(MuOv)gin-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="tail"?whereinRE is a metal from transition group 3 or a rare earth metal,AE is an alkaline earth metal, andM is any other metal, wherea=0.8-3; b=0.5-1.3; c=0.5-1.3; d=0-0.5; e=0-0.3; f=0-0.3; and g=0-0.1,and e+f≧0.01.Preferably RE is selected from the elements Y, La, Ce, and Pr.The pigments are used as colorants for coloring paints, inks, plastics, and rubber.
