ABSTRACT:
A color image reading apparatus includes a multiple-line sensor in which a plurality of one-dimensional sensor arrays are arranged on a single substrate, a projection optical system for projecting a subject on the sensor, and a color separator disposed in an optical path between the projection optical system and the sensor, for color-separating light from the subject into a plurality of color beams. The color separator includes a volume hologram and an optical interference film.
