ABSTRACT:
There is disclosed a cyan dye-forming coupler represented by formula (I) and a silver halide color photographic material containing same. ##STR1## wherein EWG represents an electron-attractive group having a Hammett substituent constant .sigma..sub.p value of 0.30 or more, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each represent a substituent, l represents an integer of 0 or 1, X represents a hydrogen atom or a group capable of being released upon coupling reaction with the oxidized product of an aromatic primary amine derivative, and Y represents a hydroxyl group or a sulfonamido group.
