ABSTRACT:
A coil bobbin is disclosed which has means for facilitating electrical connections of the coil wire to external conductors. Improved coil winding and manufacturing methods are also disclosed. The coil bobbin has two contact receiving cavities extending into one of its flanges and has integral binding posts for the wire extending from the flange. Wire positioning means are provided for locating the coil wire with its axis extending from the binding posts in crossing relationship to the cavities and then to the coil supporting surface. In use, the wire is wrapped around one of the posts, passed through one of the cavities, and is then wound on the coil supporting surface. After the required number of turns have been wound, the wire is passed through the other cavity and wrapped around the remaining post. Terminals are inserted into the cavities to establish contact with the wire and the posts are cut away from the bobbin flange.
