ABSTRACT:
To correct error magnetic field components with respect to Z axis included in a fundamental magnetic field when the direction of the fundamental magnetic field is taken in the direction of Z axis of the Cartesian coordinate system, ring-shaped correction coils, which are (1+N.sub.m /2) pairs of coils when the maximum order N.sub.m of the error magnetic field components to be corrected with respect to Z axis is even, and which are {1+(N.sub.m -1)/2} pairs of coils when the maximum order N.sub.m is odd, are coaxially disposed symmetrically on the both sides of a Z axis reference point taken as the center in the Z-axis direction so as to include positions where the (N.sub.m +2)th order error magnetic field components are not produced.
