ABSTRACT:
A coating composition comprising (A) a polyester resin modified with a lactone having 6 to 8 ring carbon atoms (I) or a mixture of said lactone-modified polyester resin (I) and a non-modified polyester resin (II), the lactone content being from 5 to 40% by weight of the total polyester resin (in solid) (I) or (I+II), the number average molecular weight being 800.about.200 mg KOH/g and wherein the resinous acid value is 2.about.20 mg KOH/g, (B) a crosslinking agent, (C) a pigment and (D) optionally other resins. The composition is useful as an intercoat paint for automobile bodies.
