ABSTRACT:
A process for liquefying coal which comprises contacting coal and solvent in the presence of a residual oil containing asphaltenes and at least one finely divided, unsupported metal sulfide and recovering valuable liquid hydrocarbon products from the resulting liquid coal extract.
