ABSTRACT:
A thermal weapon sight employs a rotating multifaceted scan mirror (22) to reflect infrared light (14) from an object to a bank of CCD detectors (50) of which the output is multiplexed (80) and compensated for overall and individual sensor deviations. The compensated output, after suitable signal processing (86), is employed to drive an LED array (62) that projects visible light to different facets of the same scanning mirror (22) to provide a visible output (14') representing the infrared input obtained from the object being viewed. A compensation circuit includes a series of digital analog converters (208a-208m) having a bank of switched capacitors (234a-234m) for which a voltage reference is provided by a CMOS voltage buffer (220) having fast recovery time, and which is able to drive the large capacitative load. The voltage buffer includes a two stage differential amplifier (270) having a pair (274) of larger FETs to strip most of the current of a first stage input differential pair (270) and having a pair of smaller active load FETs (272). A second stage differential amplifier (276) is driven by the first stage differential pair and is connected to drive current boost circuit (280) to increase the total current available. The second stage drives a differential to single ended converter (278) and a second current boost circuit 282. The second stage, converter and both boost circuits connected to a converter output node to drive the large capacitative load. The output node is also connected to the input of one of the differential pair of the first stage.
