ABSTRACT:
The present invention includes the isolation of an oligonucleotide encoding Thermus aquaticus recA protein, and to the purified protein. The invention also includes methods of use of the protein, particularly, methods for hybridizing a primer to a complementary template with increased binding affinity at a temperature above 45.degree. C.
