ABSTRACT:
Secondary-alkyl substituted benzene hydroperoxides are cleaved to form phenols and ketones by contacting the secondary-alkyl substituted benzene hydroperoxide with a catalyst consisting essentially of about 3:1 to 1:10 by weight of SbF.sub.5 and graphite in the presence of an aromatic or ketone solvent at a temperature of from about 0.degree.-100.degree. C.
