ABSTRACT:
A clamp apparatus converts the rectilinear motion of a cylinder into the rotary motion by means of a toggle mechanism to clamp a workpiece by using an arm. A release projection is covered with a top cover made of metal, preferably with a top cover coated with a material excellent in smoothness. When the arm is going to be unlocked by using the release projection, a tongue of the top cover is lifted upwardly to open the top cover, and the release projection is pushed and moved downwardly.
