ABSTRACT:
Apparatus, and associated method, for determining frequency deviation of an oscillator due to aging of the oscillator. Frequency deviation of a clock signal generated by the oscillator relative to a reference clock signal is determined, and the component of the frequency deviation due to aging of the oscillator is estimated from the total value. The determined value of frequency deviation can be utilized in a feedback arrangement to tune the oscillator to counteract for the effects of aging of the oscillator. The frequency deviation can be determined even if the reference signal is of a center frequency susceptible to being offset from a nominal center frequency beyond an allowable amount within a limited time period.
