ABSTRACT:
The circuit breaker of this invention comprises a pair of stationary contactors2, 3which are respectively provided with stationary contacts2a,3a, a movable contactor4which includes a pair of movable contacts4aand which is capable of bridging both the stationary contactors, a switching mechanism section10which operates when an overcurrent has flowed through the stationary contactors, a crossbar5which separates the movable contactor from the stationary contactors upon the operation of the switching mechanism section, a contact pressure spring7which is engaged with the crossbar at one end and with substantially the central part of the movable contactor at the other end and which urges the movable contactor toward the stationary contactors, and arc extinction chambers8which are respectively disposed near both the end parts of the movable contactor and which extinguish an arc struck at the separation of the movable contactor from the stationary contactors.
