The invention relates to the field of single-mode chromatic dispersion compensating optical fibers for a wavelength multiplexing transmission network. A single-mode chromatic dispersion compensating optical fiber is provided having at least six core slices (1to6) and having a negative chromatic dispersion and chromatic dispersion slope at a central wavelength.
