A chess game playing array assembly including a plurality of three-dimensional playing segments is disclosed. The playing segments are disposed relative to one another to define an array of playing spaces on which a game of chess may be played. One or more of the plurality of three dimensional playing segments may be spaced apart by one or more voids or in abutting relation with one another.
