ABSTRACT:
An acoustical board comprised of felted mineral wool and clay is embossed by applying an aqueous dispersion of lithium carbonate and borax to selected areas of the board surface, drying the coating and firing at a temperature in the range of from about 1200.degree. F. to 1600.degree. F. A prime clay coat may be provided which acts as a barrier and gives better control of board embossing.
