ABSTRACT:
A channel memory device adopted for a television or video cassette recorder and the method therefor, can increase alternatives for channels, cope with the change of broadcasting station names and allow a quick and simple channel selection. The channel memory device includes a tuner for demodulating the broadcasting signal received via antennae, an IF unit for detecting the output signal of tuner, a decoder for decoding the broadcasting data output from IF unit, E.sup.2 PROM for storing channel data, a luminance and color signal processor for processing the output signals of IF unit and decoder, a microcomputer for controlling the channel selection and channel memory with respect to decoding and tuning the broadcasting data, and a display for displaying the broadcasting data.
