ABSTRACT:
A chain saw guide bar having identifying indicia to aid in the selection of a replacement guide bar and/or saw chain. A colored insert is installed in an aperture of the guide bar. The insert is colored to indicate the proper type of chain for the guide bar. Characters are stamped into the insert to indicate the mounting tail of the guide bar and the length of the saw chain required for the guide bar.
