ABSTRACT:
A phenoxyalkanoylaminomethylphosphonic acid represented by the following formula (I) ##STR1## wherein X and Y are identical or different and each represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, CF.sub.3 or an alkyl group having not more than 5 carbon atoms, Z represents CH or N, and R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are identical or different and each represents a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms. The compound is useful, as a herbicide, for eradicating weeds, especially narrow-leaved weeds.
