New nematocides and plant growth regulants comprise diazoles of formula, ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 is alkyl, substituted alkyl, aryl, or substituted aryl, R.sup.2 is alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or substituted alkyl and X is oxygen or sulphur.
