ABSTRACT:
A ceramic composite material consisting of single crystal .alpha.-Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 and single crystal Y.sub.3 Al.sub.5 O.sub.12 is provided. This composite material has high mechanical strength and creep behavior particularly at high temperatures.
