ABSTRACT:
A novel ceramic composite material consisting of single crystal .alpha.-Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 and polycrystal Y.sub.3 Al.sub.5 O.sub.12 and a ceramic composite material consisting of polycrystal .alpha.-Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 and polycrystal Y.sub.3 Al.sub.5 O.sub.12, each having a high mechanical strength and creep behavior particularly at high temperature are provided.
