ABSTRACT:
New compounds which are salts of the formula A.sup.+ B.sup.- where A.sup.+ is a quaternary ammonium cation and B.sup.- is a tetrahedral boron-oxygen complex anion are prepared from boric acid by reaction with a hydroxyl compound and a quaternary ammonium hydroxide. The salts are used as catalysts to prepare carbodiimides and isocyanurates from isocyanates which can be in the form of foamed resins.
