ABSTRACT:
A fused and solidified iron oxide catalyst containing at least 96.5% of iron oxide having an atomic ratio of oxygen to iron of 1.2:1 to 1.4:1 is activated by heating in hydrogen and used for the hydrogenation of organic compounds especially of adiponitrile to hexamethylene diamine.
