ABSTRACT:
Catalysts comprising an oxide of tantalum supported on titania wherein at least a portion, and preferably at least about 25 wt. %, of said supported tantalum oxide is in a non-crystalline form. These catalysts have been found to be useful for synthesizing methanethiol and CH.sub.4 from mixtures of H.sub.2 S and CO.
