ABSTRACT:
A casting reel is provided with a stationery reel spindle having a clutch cavity. A clutch assembly having a draw bar and a plurality of spring washers and a clutch plate is contained within the clutch cavity. A torque converter having a first race and a second race is also provided with the second race being free to rotate in one direction and engaging with and rotating with the first race in the other direction. The first race is in frictional engagement with the pressure plate which is slideably mounted on the stationary reel spindle and in frictional engagement with the clutch plate and the first race of the torque converter. A line spool is mounted on the stationary reel spindle and attached to the second race of the torque converter.
