ABSTRACT:
A cassette type ink ribbon device for use in printing apparatus comprises a pair of cassette cases releasably connected together by mutually engaging pawls. The connected together cassette cases contain ink and transfer rollers for inking an ink ribbon, and a tensioner for applying a tensioning force to the ink ribbon. The tensioner comprises a slidable guide body having a cavity in which the slack part of the ink ribbon is stored, and a biasing spring which biases the guide body in a direction to apply the tensioning force to the ink ribbon. Both cassette cases may have the same shape and configuration thereby simplifying manufacturing costs.
