ABSTRACT:
A forward end of a cup shaped tubular cartridge case utilizes a divergently apered exterior wall and a straight sided interior wall to permit initial assembly of a fully telescoped projectile therein and subsequent reliable sealing of the cartridge case by a convergent seal member. After sealing the divergently tapered exterior wall of the cartridge case is converted to a convergently tapered wall preventing separation of the seal member from the cartridge case during projectile launch.
