The free bottom edge of bottom plate is received by a recess in the molding to guide the carpet cutter along the installed molding during the cutting of the carpet. A handle is attached to the base and extends upwardly therefrom. The handle carries blades for cutting the carpet edge during the guided movement of the carpet cutter along the molding.
