ABSTRACT:
The choke valve or plate of an automotive type carburetor is provided with a solenoid operated mechanism to positively close the choke plate during engine cranking operations below predetermined temperature levels to assure uniform cold engine starts, a bimetallic coiled spring varying the position of the choke plate as a function of the temperature levels, the solenoid operated mechanism being ineffective to move the choke plate above a predetermined starting temperature.
