ABSTRACT:
A carbonaceous negative electrode material for nonaqueous secondary batteries having (i) not less than 2.times.10.sup.-4 cc/g of pores having a diameter smaller than 8 .ANG. and (ii) not more than 15.times.10.sup.-4 cc/g of pores having a diameter of 8 to 18 .ANG.. The material exhibits a high capacity and a high efficiency.
