ABSTRACT:
A carbon fiber-reinforced carbon composite material having a porosity of not higher than 20% prepared by subjecting a carbon fiber-reinforced carbon composite material having a porosity of from 25 to 95% to densification treatment, wherein the densification treatment is conducted with pyrolytic carbon formed by the pyrolysis of a halogenated hydrocarbon-containing gas at a temperature of from 400.degree. to 800.degree. C.
