A canister is taught that includes a container10containing granular adsorbent materials30that can adsorb fuel vapor generated from a fuel tank, and a plate-shaped dividing member40, 45, 48, 65and72that is disposed in the container10in order to carry the adsorbent materials30.The dividing member40, 45, 48, 65and72is formed with a large number of elongated ventilating holes60and68for flowing the fuel vapor. Each of the ventilating holes60and68has an opening length60L larger than a length30L of the adsorbent materials30and an opening width60wthat can restrict passage of the adsorbent materials30.
