ABSTRACT:
An engine is described having a camshaft10formed of an inner shaft12and an outer tube14both of which rotate with respective groups of cams18and16. A drive train driving both the inner shaft12and the outer tube from the engine crankshaft includes a phaser30for enabling the phase of at least one of the groups of cams16and18to be varied dynamically relative to the phase of the crankshaft. The phaser is secured to the front end of the outer tube14and the inner shaft12of the camshaft10is connected to the front side36of the phaser30by way of a driving member46that encloses the component40securing the phaser to the outer tube14of the camshaft10.
