ABSTRACT:
A transportable calibration and storage device for use in calibrating radion dosimeters. The calibration device comprises a drum filled with a radiation attenuating material that may be solid, water, or water-extended solid. This material shields the radiation source that is retained in a safe position in the drum at all times. During the calibration cycle the radiation source may be moved to a low or high calibration position within the drum so as to allow calibration of the dosimeter with a known radiation intensity.
