Each cable comprises a plurality of generally coaxial ducts defining a central compartment traversed by the electrical conductor or a plurality of electrical conductors in a sheath of electrical insulation and a pair of evacuated (vacuum) compartments surrounding the central compartment. Between the two vacuum compartments there is provided a coolant-filled compartment.
