ABSTRACT:
A butterfly valve-type throttle valve10includes a valve shaft12extending across an intake air passage5of an internal combustion engine, and a butterfly-type valve body14for adjusting a flow rate of an intake air flowing through the intake air passage5by rotating in unison with the valve shaft12. The valve body14is constituted by two split members20, and is configured such that the split members20are coupled to each other by a welding36, which is a coupling that uses no screw, and such that an axial hole34for fitting with the valve shaft12is formed through the coupling. A gap closing member16is provided on a circumferential edge portion of the valve body14for closing a gap between the valve body14positioned at a fully closed position and a passage wall surface5aof the intake air passage5.
