ABSTRACT:
A brush assembly22for an electric motor10has brush holder24supporting a brush26and a brush spring. The brush holder24has a strip of brass having a central portion and two end portions28, 40. The central portion has two pins30extending in a parallel fashion away from the central portion. A brush26has two grooves64which mate with and accommodate the pins30whereby the pins30support the brush26and prevent movement of the brush26except in the direction along the pins20. The brush spring is a coil spring mounted on a post54formed at one end of the strip by a transverse slot52and bears on the back side of the brush26to urge it to slide along the pins away from the brush holder24.
