ABSTRACT:
Brominated phosphoramidates of the structure ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, chloro, bromo, and chloro or bromo substituted alkyl of from 1 to 8 carbon atoms;
R.sup.3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl of from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, hydroxy substituted alkyl of from 1 to 8 carbon atoms and chloro or bromo substituted alkyl of from 1 to 8 carbon atoms;
R.sup.4 is independently selected from the group consisting of R.sup.3 and a group of the structure ##STR2## wherein R is selected from the group consisting of alkylene of from 2 to 8 carbon atoms; phenylene, biphenylene and dicyclohexylene; provided that at least one of R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 contains a bromine atom and at least one of R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 contains a replaceable hydrogen.
The phosphoramidates of the present invention are useful to impart a flame retardant property to combustible materials.
