ABSTRACT:
The brightener for an aqueous tin, lead or tin-lead alloy plating bath comprises an effective amount of a primary brightening agent including glutaraldehyde, an effective amount of a secondary brightening agent selected from the group consisting of lower aliphatic and aromatic aldehydes, surface active and levelling agents for the entire range of current densities of from about 20 amperes per square foot to about 250 amperes per square foot, a stabilizing and deoxidizing agents including N.N..sup.1 -di-sec-butyl-p-phenylenediamine, and an organic solvent.
