ABSTRACT:
A brake releasing mechanism of a duplex tape recorder which holds two or more tape cassettes (T.sub.1, T.sub.2) laid one over another in a cassette holder and includes a single capstan shaft and reels (4,5) correlated with the tape cassettes, so as to selectively feed tape in the tape cassettes at a specified speed, comprises a brake levers (17,15) engaged with the reels in the cassette holder for braking the reels and a lock lever (8) for moving the brake lever to release the reels from braking.
