ABSTRACT:
A boot cover for enclosing a pivotally mounted automobile transmission shift lever has converging sidewalls formed in part by a plurality of spherically shaped surfaces which support rolling contact between adjacent surfaces during shifting of the shift lever from the neutral position. The center of radius of adjacent spherical surfaces alternates between a point on the shift lever determined by the distance between the boot apex and the lever pivot joint and a point on the shift lever at the boot apex. The smaller radius spherical surface is co-tangent with the larger radius spherical surface immediately adjacent thereto and displaced therefrom toward the pivot joint.
