ABSTRACT:
The invention relates to a bone replacement material consisting of a three-dimensional supporting framework of elementary bodies connected to one another and surrounding defined spaces, and a coating mass of fillers (based on strong calcium compounds) and a binding substance (matrix). The binding substance and the fillers are absorbable and the fillers are highly porous spherical particles with a diameter of between 15 and 50 .mu.m and a pore volume of between 50 to 80%, to which some filamentous material can be added.
The bone replacement material of the invention is suited to produce coatings for prostheses, thus serving as an anchoring part for prostheses. It can also be used as a complete implant.
