ABSTRACT:
A spinal spacer300for engagement between vertebrae is provided which includes a body301formed of a bone composition. The body301includes a first end311, an opposite second315end, a superior face335defining a superior vertebral engaging surface337and an inferior face338defining an inferior vertebral engaging surface340. At least one of the vertebral engaging surfaces defines a set of migration resistance grooves350. Each of the grooves350includes a first face355defining an angle of no more than about 90 degrees relative to the engaging surface340and a second opposing sloped face360. The first and second faces355, 360define an arcuate pocket370therebetween for trapping vertebral bone to resist migration of the spacer300. In one embodiment, the grooves350are arranged in series in that all of the second faces360slope in the same direction.
