ABSTRACT:
The yarn handling machine employs a bobbin holder which is able to receive an individual bobbin of varying diameter from a magazine while positioning the axis of the received bobbin at a common collection position. A bobbin gripper engages the positioned bobbin at the collection position and moves along a common bobbin insertion path to a transfer location whereat the bobbin is transferred into a cradle mechanism. Both the bobbin gripper and cradle mechanism are movable together to position the bobbin at a winding position. The cradle mechanism can be reopened at the yarn winding position to permit clamping of a fresh yarn while the bobbin is held by the gripper.
