The disclosed black dye mixtures contain 50 to 95% by weight of one or more disazo dyes of the formula (1) and 5 to 50% by weight of one or more monoazo dyes of the formula (2) ##STR1## where R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6, identical to or different from each other, are each hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, methoxy, ethoxy, sulfo or carboxy,
